Price Totals 10 Points Off Bench for Chargers in Loss to Madison

Sophomore Faith Price (Springfield, Ill./Lanphier) scored 10 points off the bench, but Madison answered a go-ahead run by the Carl Sandburg College women’s basketball team with one of its own to defeat the Chargers 65-54 on Saturday afternoon at John M. Lewis Gymnasium.
KEY MOMENTS
- Sandburg (1-3) trailed 34-28 at halftime, but the Chargers scored eight straight in the opening 2:14 of the third quarter for a 36-34 advantage.
- The Wolfpack (3-2) responded with six straight points of their own for a lasting lead. Kyianna Baker’s layup with 7:00 left in the third gave Madison the lead for good at 38-36.
- Sandburg stayed within 47-44 on a putback by Alyssa Hopson (Peoria, Ill./Limestone) early in the fourth quarter, but Madison went on an 11-1 run over the next 4:00 to extend its lead to 58-45 midway through the fourth.
SANDBURG STANDOUT
Price scored a season-best 10 points while hitting 4 of 6 shots off the bench. The second-year forward hit her only 3-point attempt and added two steals for the Chargers.
OTHER TOP CHARGERS
- Hailey Lovetinsky (Overland Park, Kan./Spring Hills) had 11 points, a team-best four assists and three steals.
- Cora Neal (Monmouth, Ill./Monmouth-Roseville) hit three 3s, scored 11 points to match Lovetinsky for the team lead and had two steals.
FOR THE WOLFPACK
- Baker recorded a double-double with 11 points and 11 rebounds. She also led all players with four steals.
- Aniah Williams went 3 of 7 from beyond the arc and scored a game-high 17.
